Coach Tom Lavella

Physical Industrial Training - St. Marys, PA

I am a Certified Personal Trainer and Head Coach at Physical Industry Training. My fitness journey began when I started racing motocross at the age of 4. Motocross was a big part of our family as I was growing up and with racing being my number one priority I started implementing forms of exercise to help on and off the track. As a kid, I always had that drive to win and knew I would do whatever it took to make it happen. I was not always interested in exercise and working out but as I got older it became clear why it was so important. In 2007, I was hit with my first major injury and those injuries continued until 2013. After continually being hurt and breaking bones I knew I had to do something to make me stronger.

After Coach Nick became a Personal Trainer I found out how important and fun correct exercise is and how much it would help me with riding as well as my overall health. I enjoyed it so much I decided to also become a personal trainer and learn about why it is so important and how it works. Once I attended the National Personal Training Institute in Orlando I learned to enjoy all forms of exercise. We were taught the art of exercise prescription in Practical and Hands-on classes by Chris Williams and Luis Lopez. Coach Nick & I both graduated with a Double-A grade for the course. While I was in Florida I took 3 extra courses that included:

  • Osteoblast (bone health training)
  • Speedblast (Speed development)
  • Kettlebell Training

After learning about Osteoblast training and how things such as Olympic weightlifting could significantly improve my overall strength, I was hooked. With multiple broken bones and injuries from racing Olympic Weightlifting stuck out to me because it was able to make my bones stronger and that was an area I felt I needed to work on the most. I chose to take on weightlifting as a sport and will be entering in my first competition at the start of 2016.

At Physical Industry Training, we take our job very seriously. We strive to get the most out of our clients and look forward to helping you reach your own personal goals.
